Financial Information

Financial issues frequently limit access to IVF and other types of infertility care for many couples who would greatly benefit from it. As the financial aspect of care has great impact on treatment decisions, and there seems to be little sympathy for infertile patients among those in charge of deciding what a health insurance plan will pay for, we have chosen to add two types of financial risk-sharing payment alternatives for qualified patients who do not have insurance coverage for IVF. The American Society for Reproductive Medicine has concluded that such financial programs, in which the outcome is not guaranteed but some of the financial risks are shared by the IVF clinic, are indeed ethical if couples are fully aware of the advantages and disadvantages of such plans and if no unnecessary medical risks are taken to assure higher pregnancy rates. We feel confident that our IVF program meets these conditions.

The IVF Refund Program offers up to three fresh and up to three frozen IVF cycles for a set fee with a 75% refund if a live birth does not occur.

The Two Cycle Global IVF Package offers a discounted price for two fresh IVF cycles when paid in advance; however this package does not allow for any refund if both cycles fail.

Some restrictions apply to participation in these two financial plans. However, we expect that about 75% of the patients who seek IVF care at NHCRM will be eligible to participate one or both of these financial alternatives to traditional fee for service payment, if they so choose.

Please note that whether patients qualify for these programs or not, their pre-cycle evaluation will have been qualitatively the same and they will always receive the same level of care and go through the same medical decision making processes as those who either decline either of these financial plans or do not qualify for them. Guidelines for the treatment of infertility and for IVF have been outlined by the American Society of Reproductive Medicine and are used in the treatment of all infertility patients at NHCRM. Apart from the financial programs described in this brochure, there are no criteria used to qualify or to disqualify patients for infertility treatment at our center. All patients receive the same approach to the evaluation of infertility, which is based on their past medical history, and an earnest effort is made to give each couple an objective assessment of types of treatment(s) which may be of benefit and the cost effectiveness of those treatment(s) at our program. Each couple is then given ample opportunity, utilizing the traditional fee for service schedule, to select any medically indicated infertility treatment (including IVF) they wish to use once they know their realistic chances for the success or failure of that treatment.

Financing of IVF Fees

In order to offer a means of financing the cost of your infertility treatment at NHCRM, we participate with the Capital One Healthcare Finance plan and with the Reliance finance company. These companies are dedicated to offering a manageable way to pay for the many medical treatments not covered by most health insurance plans, including infertility care and IVF.

Some patients choose to obtain a personal loan with their banker or to reserve one of their own low interest credit card accounts exclusively for medical charges for their infertility care. NHCRM currently accepts Visa, MasterCard, and Discover Card but does not accept American Express.
